This week my own top tip for interior design trends in 2016 was featured on the AMARA LuxPad
It’s a wonderfully inspiring feature including tips and tricks from some fabulous interior designers, stylists and bloggers. I have chosen my top ten interior design tips from this post and from other experts that I will be embracing in 2016.
1.
‘In 2016 we’ll be looking to nature for our colour palette. Bringing the outside in with mossy greens and swampy blues to soothe and uplift. Colour will be personal, from the heart and depend on how you want to feel in a room.’ – Jessica Zoob
2. Pantone Colour of The Year 2016 {Rose Quartz + Serenity}
A warm pink tone and a cooler, peaceful blue. A beautiful gentle combination that will add a sense of tranquility to any room. I love the idea of adding as little or as much of the tones as you like to your home.
Subtle use here with the new Linea Ceremony Spring Collection at House of Fraser
Maxine from We Love Home Blog suggests painting old dining chairs in the pink and blue shades.
I wonder if Pantone were inspired by the Jessica Zoob Desire collection for Romo Black Edition?
3. Simple and Understated Elegance
Gray and Willows 2016 Spring/Summer collection for House of Fraser epitomises simple and understated elegant design
4. Support Independent Makers
Emma from a Quiet Style sees the trend for unique artisanal items going from strength to strength in 2016, with people wanting well crafted and timeless pieces in their home
5. Declutter and Rearrange
Abi’s tip from These Four Walls is declutter and rearrange creating a look that’s simple and liveable – a tranquil sanctuary.
6. Go green
Interior Designer Sophie Robinson’s tip is to refresh your home for the New Year by investing in some green plants.
7. Digital-Free Living Room
Houzz predict 25 design trends that will gain stream in 2016. A tech free room is the one I’m most excited about and will be embracing this year. To have one room in the house unplugged to encourage family time is very appealing!
8. Layering of metallics
Jo Hamilton, Interior Designer loves the rising trend of layering metallics. A mix of soft, warm toned metals – pale gold, rose gold and copper – creates the most glorious, uncontrived elegance and gives an exciting edge to pretty much any scheme.
9. Stand Alone Furniture
Interior Designer Shaynna Blaze enjoys pared-down design, ‘rather than a lot of furniture in a space each piece will be a stand alone statement.’ Like this handcrafted bespoke dining table from burlanes interiors made with tulip wood.
10. Words From William Morris
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
