As I am so busy with my Open Studio this month I thought it would be the perfect time to hand over the reins to one of my favourite interior bloggers; Katy Orme of the lovely Apartment Apothecary:
I have to admit that Jessica asked me a while ago to write a guest post for her blog and I was completely delighted that she did! However, the last few months have been so busy I haven’t got round to it until now that summer is nearly over and the pace of life is beginning to slow. In the meantime I keep on seeing Jessica’s beautiful work cropping up here and there and I have fallen in love with it more and more. For me, the palette of colours that Jessica uses in her work is what captures my imagination.
For today’s post I would like to tell you a bit about my blog and show you some photographs of my home office as I love to nosey inside other people’s creative work spaces (I’d love to see inside Jessica’s studio hint, hint!).
I am interior obsessed and my blog showcases the room makeovers I undertake in my own home, which I am constantly changing – an occupational hazard, I suppose. My home office used to be our guest room but I did a DIY makeover and I’m so pleased with the results. All of these photographs have been taken by photographer Katharine Peachey for a recent home tour on Design Sponge – definitely a blogging highlight for me.
I ripped up the carpet in this room, painted the floor white, made a double desk from lengths of MDF that rest on trestle legs and mounted pegboard for my craft materials. I love how light, bright and fresh this room feels and it’s a very motivating space to run my blog.
I blog full time since giving up a ten year career as a secondary school teacher last year. I have loved developing my interior styling skills and have such fun running a monthly styling challenge, Styling the Seasons with Charlotte of Lotts and Lots blog. We ask people to pick a surface in their home and style it to represent what the month means to them and either blog about it or post a shot on any social media. This is such a great opportunity to reflect on the passing of time and refresh a corner in our homes.
I would love to see you over on my blog and hope you have enjoyed the little tour of my work space. Thank you, Jessica, for having me!
