Summer Art Inspiration
I am loving this summer; my season to slow down, to drift, dream and spend more time outside. Country walks in the summer rain, picnics, wild swimming and planning and planting in my cottage garden. I am constantly inspired during the summer by summer adventures home and abroad. I envisage future oil painting and future art collections as I sit in my garden, stroll country lanes and explore more exotic Asian locations. Beautiful, colourful temples, the contrast of fascinating Bangkok back streets, places full of wonder and magic and I am always thinking how I will capture this magic and these memories in layers of paint.
My Summer Poem
More sun
More sea
More rain on water
More dragonflies
More bees
More swallows,
Swifts
More trees
More smiles
More roses
More time to drift and dream
The meteorological British summer begins on 01 June 2017 and ends on 31 August 2017. This year the astronomical summer began with the summer solstice on 21 June 2017 and ends on 22 September 2017.
For me summer started way back in May for my Open Studio weekends and Dreamscape Art Exhibition at the Rolls Royce Showroom in Berkeley Square, a wonderfully hot day.
Now, it is August, time for midsummer dreaming so I have put together a collection of fine art prints from my oil paintings that remind me of summer, evoke summer and to me are summer. I hope you like them.

Here is one of the recent reviews on Where Magic Happens 1 & 2 paper prints:
“I fell in love with these paintings after having seen them on Jessica’s website. I’ve always loved her work but these 2 pieces totally captured my imagination and having just moved to a large provincial house in France I was on the hunt for something special to adorn the walls and found everything I wanted in these beautiful pieces. I purchased 2 A0 matte prints and had them framed and the result is stunning. I adore the colours and textures and the effect the pictures have on the room. I could sit and stare at them for hours! The quality of the printing is amazing.
I just love them! ” – Louisa Van Vloten
Finally here is one of my favourite poems about summer:
Summer Sun – Robert Louis Stevenson
Great is the sun, and wide he goes
Through empty heaven with repose;
And in the blue and glowing days
More thick than rain he showers his rays.
Though closer still the blinds we pull
To keep the shady parlour cool,
Yet he will find a chink or two
To slip his golden fingers through.
The dusty attic spider-clad
He, through the keyhole, maketh glad;
And through the broken edge of tiles
Into the laddered hay-loft smiles.
Meantime his golden face around
He bares to all the garden ground,
And sheds a warm and glittering look
Among the ivy’s inmost nook.
Above the hills, along the blue,
Round the bright air with footing true,
To please the child, to paint the rose,
The gardener of the World, he goes.
