Discovering Exciting Art Around The World

By January 22, 2015October 30th, 2017Blog, Inspiration, Jessica Zoob's Latest News

Next month I’m off to the other side of the world on an amazing adventure and I’m hoping to visit some art exhibitions and be inspired by exciting art from around the world!

My trip starts in  Hong Kong, then Australia and  on my ‘to do’ list is a visit to the National Gallery of Australia which has the largest collection of Australian art in the country. I’m hoping to see the contemporary Australian art in their current exhibition  NGA Contemporary. It includes some of Australia’s leading artists working across the country and internationally. The display includes all media—paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photography, video and the decorative arts.

Next stop is Cape Town, South Africa where I will be showing 27 of my paintings at a new exhibition at the Southern Gallery…more information coming soon!

I will be returning to Hong Kong in March and I will be there for Art Basel.
Founded in 1970, Art Basel stages annual contemporary art shows on three continents in Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong. Art Basel is the only art show with such global reach and I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to visit the Hong Kong shows and see work from exciting, emerging Asian artists like those in the Gajah Gallery in Singapore.

Once I’m back home in the spring I’m hoping to continue my art adventure, discovering exciting, inspiring art. These are a few of the exhibitions I’d like to visit in Europe:

2015 marks 125 years since Van Gogh’s death. I am a huge fan of his work and a special cultural program to commemorate his work has been developed in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. So many interesting events that would tie in nicely with a weekend break!

Vienna is a romantic city I would love to visit and works from two of my favourite artists Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt are currently being shown in the Leopold Museum I last saw their work at the National Gallery part of the ‘Facing the Modern’ exhibition and was completely captivated. Would love to see more of their work and visit a beautiful city at the same time!

What an exciting year ahead…let the adventures begin! Do let me know of any exciting art you’ve seen recently or exhibitions you’re going to.
