Creating My Dream Wilderness Garden

For those of you who know me you will know that for many years I have been wishing for some land on which to create my dream wilderness garden. My dreams have provided inspiration for my artworks.  Five of my oil paintings are named after ‘dream gardens’

This Easter my dream came true and we bought a beautiful 400 year old cottage on the edge of the Ashdown Forest. Home of Winnie the Pooh

So far we have mainly been clearing, felling dead trees and filling the woodshed!

Doing battle with the more thuggish weeds which has proved a full time job! However, now we are moving into the Autumn and I can start to think about planting! I am trying to learn about edible hedging so if any of you have any advise please do get in touch!!

I am a complete novice but I do have a dream! I want to create as many different habitats as possible on the land to create wild life havens for as many different species as possible, especially endangered ones.

I also want to plant an orchard with rare heritage English fruit, and create a kitchen and herb garden. The learning curve will no doubt be very steep and I am hoping that the beautiful deer and rabbits will stay in the wildflower meadow and keep out of my vegetables!! Wish me luck!

The adventure begins in earnest!

Pinterest is one of my favourite online destinations to seek ideas and inspiration! I am collecting inspiring images for my wilderness garden on my Dream Garden Pinterest board

Watch my video portrait for more glimpses of my garden.
