Decorex 2013 – My Highlights

By September 23, 2013March 28th, 2017Blog

I am so delighted to be at Decorex International for the second year running.

The stunning, historic venue that is Kensington Palace gardens makes the perfect home for this prestigious four day event.

Decorex is bursting with inspiration. Leading names in the design word alongside new, emerging talent.

The Silk Route theme for this year has made it extra special and Kit Kemp’s entrance encapsulates the design concept as she explains:

“Our trader of spices and glittering silks arrives back to his hideaway on a rainy autumn London day. His cloak and hat hang, and his bedroom is a treasure chest of souvenirs from his travels to marketplaces in The Orient. The spice colours of the East and the dappled light of an early autumn day create a glowing scene. The chandelier of a glittering galleon above the bed reminds him of travels of the past and those to come in the future.”

Directly opposite is de Gournay‘s  eye catching stand. I adore their exquisite, hand painted wallpapers.

Inchyra have displayed their beautiful British linens so perfectly!

Tom Faulkner‘s stand was one of my favourites last year. His stand this year doesn’t disappoint.

Tom’s custom, handmade furniture is understated and elegant. I love it!

A wonderful discovery…textile designer Julia Brendal. Her stand has been innovatively put together.

I love how Julia presents her luxurious fabrics

I was really looking forward to seeing Claire Cole‘s stand and her delicate embroidery.

I love the way she mixes leather, silks and vintage papers to create unique wall covering.

This is my favourite piece

Completely adore what my neighbouring stand Floriture do with silk flowers.

This handmade floral sculpture is just gorgeous!

Decorex is  today, Tuesday and Wednesday so there is still time to visit and see all the wonderful exhibitors for yourselves.

Do pop by stand F24, say hello and see my Silk Route inspired sculptures.

They were featured on Hilary White’s website as one of her ‘Decorex highlights’

Hilary had been following their progress on Twitter and said they, “far outweighed any expectations in real life.” So lovely to hear!
